Palakkad (colonial name Palghat), is amongst the most picturesque regions of Kerala with tremendous greenery, Palm trees and paddy fields with plethora of flora and fauna. Palakkad is arguably is one of the biggest mountain pass in the world around 30-40 Kms and separates two regions of the Western Ghats, located on the border of Kerala and Tamilnadu. Therefore Palakkad is called as Gateway to Kerala by giving the rest of India access to the state. Perhaps this could be one of the reasons for Palakkad bearing the force of incursions from the neighboring territories in the past which has resulted into the different culture, art and lifestyle of the place. The rich forest, dams, wild life parks, water bodies, avifauna, animals, historical monuments and traditional Ayurvedic therapies have given Palakkad a superb and exceptional touch.
